Many years ago I knelt to you and I said "I love you" You looked at me with dismay and my heart became a Mourning Dove For when I was little I placed a chain upon my heart Each time I parted from another I tightened the chain on my heart until I thought I was lost forever Once as I watched you sleeping I whispered softly to you "I love you" and a song began to grow of this the love of life long friends The Mourning Dove of my heart is transforming into the Nightingale of my soul The chain is falling away and I am free I do not fear the form love chooses Now I fly to you and kiss the tear on your cheek and I sing to your laughter As our voices and the winds call with gentleness and passion I come to you and we become mourning doves and nightingales of life unfolding and flying forever *** {Copyright pending Dionysos Maskaleris}
Mourning Doves And Nightingales
ReplyDeleteA poem by Dion
Many years ago I knelt to you and I said "I love you"
You looked at me with dismay and my heart became a Mourning Dove
For when I was little I placed a chain upon my heart
Each time I parted from another
I tightened the chain on my heart until I thought I was lost forever
Once as I watched you sleeping I whispered softly to you "I love you"
and a song began to grow of this the love of life long friends
The Mourning Dove of my heart is transforming into the Nightingale of my soul
The chain is falling away and I am free
I do not fear the form love chooses
Now I fly to you and kiss the tear on your cheek and I sing to your laughter
As our voices and the winds call with gentleness and passion
I come to you and we become mourning doves and nightingales of life unfolding and flying forever
